Seen in HD was recorded right in the midst of the kerfuffle between media giants, including the publicized battle between Viacom and DirecTV (which has been settled since the recording). An unlikely scapegoat came out of the war – or in this case, the AMC/Dish rumble – and that was Netflix. Does giving content to Netflix weaken AMC’s position in negotiations? Apparently so. While Netflix keeps their hands out of the mix, they begin a secret war with Redbox that seems the red envelope pusher beginning to (re)embrace the disc. Their goal is to keep the Verizon/Redbox deal on equal ground with their own business.
Both of us take a look at John Carter on Blu-ray, and the usual round of show features.
